Wild Earth announced Aug. 2 that it has teamed up with Mars Petcare and Michelson Found Animals Foundation to accelerate the future of clean and sustainable pet food. As part of the partnership, the company is receiving a $200,000 investment and direct access to leading experts in pet food development through the Leap Venture Studio.
Wild Earth believes that Mars Petcare, a global leader in pet nutrition and health care, and Michelson Found Animals Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to keeping animals in their homes, are great partners to support its mission of creating sustainable pet food for the future.
“I share the conviction that we can solve some of the planet’s most pressing problems through applied biotechnology, and cellular agriculture offers the opportunity to efficiently produce protein while reducing the environmental impact of feeding hundreds of millions of pets. The alternative protein industry is just in its beginning stages and Wild Earth is a leader addressing the future of pet nutrition - one of the fastest growing consumer categories around the world," said Ben Jacobs, Head of Ventures at Mars Petcare.
While Wild Earth is getting ready to release its first product, a koji flavored dog treat, this partnership will help the company speed up the development of its dog food, to provide healthy and sustainable dog food made from clean protein.
