Symrise recently completed its inaugural global Well-being Challenge, themed "Make a difference, one step at a time." With 3,273 dedicated employees participating right after the International Day of Disabled Persons, a remarkable 267 million steps were amassed over eleven days. This effort culminated in a 10,000 euros donation to Handicap International.
Open to all employees worldwide, the challenge spanned four continents and over 100 locations, with participants covering an impressive 186,914 km–equivalent to circling the globe more than four times. Beyond promoting health and exercise, this collective effort significantly supported Handicap International's humanitarian mission for people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, aiming to empower them towards a more autonomous life.
The Kiplin app facilitated easy participation, enabling step recording, team formation and friendly competition. Notably, the ten most successful teams earned 100 euros vouchers for a charitable project of their choice. Symrise's specially formed ambassador network engaged approximately 140 colleagues to guide others on app usage and challenge specifics.
Highlighting the broader goal, Dr. Stephanie Coßmann, a board member and key sponsor, emphasized the challenge's dual purpose: encouraging active lifestyles while aiding those in need. She stressed the initiative's aim to motivate individuals to contribute positively to both themselves and others' well-being.
