Purina Puppy and Kitten Chow has launched a nationwide contest to find its first-ever “chief snuggle officers.” One puppy and one kitten will be chosen to represent the brand as ambassadors, each earning a $25,000 “salary” while promoting good nutrition and plenty of snuggles.
The contest, open until January 24, invites pet owners to submit photos of their puppy or kitten and share why their pet is the perfect fit for the role. Puppies must be under 12 months old (or 24 months for large breeds), and kittens must be under 12 months. Finalists will be selected for a public vote from February 17 to March 3, with winners announced in late March.
In addition to the cash prize, Purina will donate $25,000 to animal shelters chosen by voters.
The role requires no executive experience but seeks pets who:
- Excel at being adorable on camera.
- Provide calming, cuddly companionship.
- Have basic wagging or purring skills (no additional training needed).
Purina noted the first year of a puppy’s or kitten’s life is critical for physical and mental development.
“The first twelve months — or 24 months for large-breed puppies — are when pets experience the most growth and learning,” said Dr. Callie Harris, a Purina veterinarian. “Purina Puppy and Kitten Chow provide the essential nutrients for this development, including protein for muscles, DHA for brain and vision, calcium for bones, and antioxidants for immune health.”
