The program is part of the company's "Love Your Dog Club" (LYDC) loyalty system, which was enhanced last month. Customers who log their dog's annual exam receive the credit toward achieving VIP tier status in the points-based program that provides free products and food discounts.
"A big part of our mission is improving every dog's health and longevity," said Michael O'Rourke, CEO and co-founder of Wynwood Dog Food Co. "Nutrition is, of course, crucial. But preventive measures, starting with regular vet exams, are equally critical, so we wanted to give our customers a real reason to prioritize that care."
The program aims to encourage regular wellness visits and strengthen relationships between pet owners and veterinary clinics. According to the AAHA-AVMA Canine Preventive Healthcare Guidelines, all dogs should have at least one vet exam per year. One analysis found at least one in four adult and senior dogs had clinically significant abnormalities during wellness visits that required follow-up.
"It all comes down to this: we care deeply about your dog's health, so this is another way we can prove it," O'Rourke added. "By rewarding preventive care, we're not just encouraging visits; we're helping owners take proactive steps backed by data. Early detection through regular exams can literally add years to a dog's life, and we want to support that."
