PFI releases MAP market tracker tool

PFI introduces MAP market tracker tool.

The Pet Food Institute (PFI), whose members make the vast majority of dog and cat food and treats in the United States, has released a market tracker tool to assist the pet food industry in assessing international export opportunities.

The Market Access Program (MAP), which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), provides users with relevant information and helps promote U.S. agricultural commodities and products worldwide. Beginning in 1998, there were eight markets in PFI’s MAP program, and today 17 countries are represented. MAP is credited with an approximate 14% increase in revenue and–for every $1 invested in the program–$24.50 is generated in exports.

The market tracker provides country-specific information for assessing, comparing and prioritizing international export opportunities including distilling large amount of data into actionable intelligence and providing compelling overviews, trends, forecasts and market drivers.

“The market tracker tool is a well-rounded solution that consolidates key data, insights, and analysis alongside of official trade data to deliver a concise review of markets, key products sectors/sub-sectors, and help to deliver a better understanding of market strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities,” said Nat Davies, PFI vice president of Business Operations and Programs. “I encourage companies in the pet food industry to use it.”

The market tracker can be accessed on PFI’s website at https://www.petfoodinstitute.org/market-tracker/.
