Understanding your consumer is important to any industry, especially in pet food. With pet owners becoming more conscious about what they are feeding their companions, companies must ensure they are keeping track of consumer wants and needs. Petfood Forum 2023 will focus on sharing this knowledge to help companies and brands to anticipate consumer behavior and needs.

Scheduled for May 1-3 at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri, Petfood Forum 2023 will kick off its conference with an opening keynote on May 2 by David Allison. Allison, founder of the Valuegraphics Project, will share common core values of pet owners, based on exclusive surveys conducted for Petfood Forum. In the afternoon concurrent tracks, experts will share knowledge on pet owner perceptions, pet food ingredients, nutrition concepts, supply chain and inflation solutions, regulatory and safety innovations.

On May 3, Mary Kelly will open with a session on Futurenomics: Turning crisis into clarity for your team and organization. Kelly is an internationally recognized economist, author and speaker who shares her perspective on creating strong leadership, productivity and communication. Speaking on issues affecting the economy and pet food business, she will provide solutions to help attendees understand how to best lead teams through difficult situations.

Pet food student research, Tech Talks and more

Participants can network and connect with other industry professionals, see what research students in pet food academic programs are conducting and learn from supplier Tech Talks. David Sprinkle will conclude the conference with a panel Q&A discussion focusing on what is next for the pet food industry. Sprinkle will also share recent Packaged Facts data and trends.

Petfood Essentials: Deep dive into alternative pet foods

Leading into Petfood Forum on May 1, Petfood Essentials focuses on a relatively small, but growing part of the market, alternative formats – pet foods that are raw, fresh, freeze-dried, air-dried, baked, gently cooked or similar. Attendees can learn from experts about the unique benefits and challenges of producing and marketing alternative pet foods in key areas like nutrition, processing, packaging, distribution, retailing safety and testing. Participants will test their knowledge during interactive group exercises and friendly competition.
