Dr. Angele Thompson, founder and president of Thompson PetTech, has been honored with the 2023 Friend of Pet Food Award by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA). The award, presented by Jerry May of Freshpet during the AFIA Pet Food Conference, recognizes Dr. Thompson's outstanding contributions to innovation, product development and nutrition in the pet food industry.
As an independent consultant, Dr. Thompson leverages her extensive industry experience to provide nutrition, product development and regulatory services, promoting innovative solutions that prioritize pet health. Her involvement with the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) showcases her commitment to industry advancement.
"I am fortunate to have contributed to the lives of pets and their owners throughout my career in the pet food industry," said Thompson, who started her journey with Heinz Pet Products and later founded Thompson PetTech in 1997.
Dr. Thompson holds a biochemistry degree from UCLA and a doctorate in nutritional biochemistry from the University of Arizona. The AFIA Friend of Pet Food Award, launched in 2019, acknowledges individuals making significant recent contributions to the pet food industry.
