Greater Good Charities partners with Hartz Loving Paws

Greater Good Charities, in partnership with Hartz Loving Paws, recently transported more than 90 at-risk shelter pets from Louisiana and Alabama to the East Coast, where they will find new homes. This initiative is part of Greater Good Charities' ongoing mission to support vulnerable shelter pets and local animal welfare organizations globally.

Erin Robbins, vice president of Pet Transport for Greater Good Charities, highlighted the organization's focus on helping harder-to-place pets, including large dogs, asymptomatic heartworm-positive dogs, homeless cats, and those in disaster-stricken areas. "To date, Greater Good Charities has transported more than 14,000 shelter pets to new homes, and we are thrilled to have the support of our longtime partner, Hartz, for this flight to help even more pets in need," Robbins said.

The chartered plane took off from New Orleans Lakefront Airport in the early morning, landing at Morristown Airport in New Jersey later that day. From there, the pets were transported to receiving shelters, including St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center and Char Wills German Shepherd Rescue. All pets had been fully vetted and received health certificates thanks to Greater Good Charities, ensuring they are ready for adoption after receiving any necessary follow-up medical care.

Stacy Kisla, senior director of marketing at Hartz, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting pet adoption and enriching the lives of both pets and their owners. "Hartz Loving Paws and Greater Good Charities share the same dedication toward fostering that unconditional love. We’re honored to do our part for social good, but the mission doesn’t stop at product donations and volunteer events," Kisla stated.

The sending shelters for this transport included Cara’s House, Iberville Parish Animal Shelter, Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services, Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center, Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter, St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter, St. Martin’s Parish Animal Shelter, Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter and Save a Pet Rescue, Adoption, & Transport.

Greater Good Charities ensures that the transport of shelter pets does not displace local animals in receiving areas and complies with USDA interstate regulations.
