Leap Venture Studio has announced that it is now accepting applications for its ninth Studio Program, which offers an invaluable opportunity for early-stage pet care startups worldwide. Selected startups will benefit from a 12-week hybrid program that begins on February 24, 2025, in Los Angeles and concludes with Demo Day presentations on May 12, 2025, in London.
About Leap Venture Studio & Academy
Leap Venture Studio & Academy is a joint initiative between Mars Petcare, the world's largest pet care company, and Michelson Found Animals, a leading animal welfare organization. Together, they aim to enhance the world of pet care by making it more accessible, affordable and sustainable for pet owners.
Program Highlights
The Studio Program offers a customized experience for each selected startup, providing:
- Funding: An investment of $200,000
- Mentorship: Guidance from industry leaders, award-winning strategists, technologists, designers and consultants
- Networking: Access to a growing network of past accelerator alumni
- Preparation for Future Fundraising: Group sessions, fireside chats, workshops and pitch opportunities to prominent investors.
Eligibility and Focus Areas
The program welcomes all pet care-focused startups, particularly those innovating in pet tech, pet health, veterinary care, sustainability or other related fields. Startups applying for the Spring 2025 edition have the chance to disrupt the pet care space with groundbreaking ideas.
Special Opportunities
This year, one Impact Seat is reserved for a company focused on creating a positive impact within the pet care ecosystem. This initiative follows the successful inclusion of BestyBnB as an impact company in the previous cohort. This opportunity is open to both non-profits and for-profits that are impact-driven and aim to create scalable, measurable positive change.
Application Deadline and Diversity Commitment
All applications for the Spring 2025 program close on September 15, 2024, at midnight Pacific Time. The program emphasizes fostering diversity, equity and inclusion within the pet care industry. Notably, over 60% of past program founders identify as women and/or people of color.
Program Successes
Since its inception in 2018, Leap Venture Studio has seen 51 companies complete the program, collectively raising over $200 million USD in follow-on capital, with two successful exits. Graduates have innovated across various sectors, including at-home diagnostic tools, digital pet services and veterinary care software.
