AFIA opens registration for annual Pet Food Conference

The event is scheduled for Jan 2025.

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has opened registration for its annual Pet Food Conference (PFC), scheduled for Jan. 28, 2025, in conjunction with the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Ga. The PFC will bring together hundreds of professionals from the pet nutrition industry to discuss the latest trends, research and regulatory updates.

Louise Calderwood, AFIA’s director of regulatory affairs, expressed excitement for this year's event. “We are thrilled to bring together a dynamic lineup of speakers for this year’s Pet Food Conference. The diverse agenda will provide attendees with insights on topics ranging from innovative marketing trends to important regulatory updates.”

Key presentations and topics for the 2025 PFC include:

  • Michael Johnson, principal of consumer strategy at BSM Partners, will discuss current marketing trends in pet food
  • Rich Kelleman, CEO of Bond Pet Foods, will explore the use of brewed proteins in pet food
  • Erin Perry, Ph.D., professor at Southern Illinois University, will highlight gaps and opportunities in working dog nutrition
  • Lara Moody, executive director of the Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER), will share the latest data on U.S. pet food consumption trends

The conference will also feature important regulatory updates from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). Additionally, the Friend of Pet Food Award will be presented during the event.

AFIA is seeking students at the undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral levels to present their research at the conference. Applications are due by Nov. 4, 2024.
