University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign honors George Fahey

The university has set up a fund in recognition of the renowned researcher.

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has established the "Dr. George C. Fahey Nutritional Sciences Seminar Fund" in honor of Professor Emeritus George Fahey, a renowned researcher in animal and nutritional sciences. Launching in the fall of 2025, the seminar series will bring leading experts in nutritional science to the university, promoting interdisciplinary research and contributing to advancements in both human and animal health.

Dr. George Fahey, with a career spanning nearly 50 years, made significant contributions to understanding carbohydrate nutrition and gastrointestinal health. He mentored nearly 100 graduate students and many others who have since become leaders in academia, industry and government.

The seminar fund has raised over $50,000 but seeks additional contributions to fully endow the initiative. Donations can be made online by specifying "George Fahey Seminar Fund #777715" or by contacting the College of ACES Office of Advancement.

This initiative honors Fahey's legacy and commitment to nutritional innovation and education.
