The United Sorghum Checkoff Program announces new members

The Leadership Sorghum Class VII will help foster leadership and advocacy within the sorghum industry.

The United Sorghum Checkoff Program (USCP) has announced the members of its Leadership Sorghum Class VII, a program designed to foster leadership and advocacy within the sorghum industry. Seventeen farmers from nine states have been selected to participate in the program, which focuses on preparing future industry leaders to address growing demand and evolving challenges in agriculture.

Kendall Hodgson, USCP chairman, emphasized the importance of developing strong advocates for the industry's future. The program combines hands-on experiences and classroom learning, allowing participants to gain insights into the sorghum value chain, advocacy efforts and professional development opportunities.

Shelee Padgett, the program director, highlighted Leadership Sorghum’s role in equipping producers with the skills necessary to lead and promote the industry at various levels.

The first session for Class VII will take place in December 2024 in Lubbock, Texas, during the USCP Board meeting.
