HABRI announces partnership

Organization is collaborating with Ancestry to study the benefits of human-animal relationships.

The Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) has announced a partnership with Ancestry, creator of the Know Your Pet DNA test, to further scientific research on the benefits of human-animal relationships. Through this collaboration, Ancestry will support HABRI's ongoing mission to fund research that reveals the positive effects pets have on mental, physical and social health.

Caitlyn Bruns, senior manager of DNA Strategy at Ancestry, stated, "Ancestry started Know Your Pet DNA because we believe that understanding the genetics and history of our pets not only enriches the lives of animals but also strengthens the connections we share with them."

This partnership will also help HABRI educate the public on the human-animal bond's impact on wellbeing and the importance of pets as part of a healthy lifestyle.

“Scientific research has consistently shown that the human-animal bond plays a vital role in enhancing quality of life,” said Steven Feldman, president of HABRI. “Partnering with Ancestry will allow us to further explore these relationships, providing new insights into how we can deepen our connection with pets.”
