Petfood Industry’s editors and reporter have been covering the COVID-19 pandemic since early March as it spread around the world altering pet owners’ purchasing behaviors and disrupting supply chains.

A boom in sales benefited many pet food companies early in the pandemic. As pet owners reduced their movements outside the home, e-commerce grew quickly. Although supply chains slowed or were disrupted, pet food ingredients suppliers tried to stockpile in preparation for the pandemic, although changes in human food rippled out to pet food suppliers. Meanwhile, new product development continued, as did mergers and acquisitions.
