Pet HealthWorks introduced Good Fitness, a dual-action soft chew supplement for dogs that the company said supports fat metabolism while preserving lean muscle. Pet HealthWorks described the product as the first of its kind on the market.
The company noted that according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), more than 59% of dogs in the U.S. are classified as overweight. The FDA reports excess weight can accelerate functional aging, leading to metabolic decline, muscle atrophy and diminished mobility. According to Pet HealthWorks, excess weight reduces activity, reduced activity accelerates muscle loss, and muscle loss further slows metabolism.
The company said Good Fitness is designed to address both metabolic efficiency and lean muscle strength in a single product. Good Fitness joins Pet HealthWorks’ active-aging mobility line, which includes the Antinol Plus joint supplement.
“Weight gain and muscle loss are compounding factors in canine mobility,” said Ofelia Silva, president of Pet HealthWorks. “Good Fitness utilizes clinically studied, branded ingredients to convert fat into energy while preserving lean muscle. Good Fitness supports long-term vitality, joint stability and overall quality of life.”
Ingredients and manufacturing
Good Fitness, which is peanut butter flavored, is made using a cold-extrusion process without heat, which the company said preserves raw ingredient integrity and bioactivity. According to Pet HealthWorks, each soft chew contains:
- myHMB (beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate), a patented metabolite studied for its role in slowing muscle breakdown, supporting muscle repair and building endurance.
- Carniking (L-carnitine), a compound that converts stored fat into metabolic fuel and preserves lean tissue.
- Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), a micronutrient for muscle function and skeletal health.
Pet HealthWorks Inc. carries the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) Quality Seal, which covers manufacturing compliance, quality control and labeling standards.
