Blue Buffalo has launched Wilderness Bone Broth Boosted, a high-protein dry cat food made with chicken bone broth that can be served dry or with added water. The three recipes, Adult Indoor Cat with Chicken, Adult Cat with Chicken and Adult Cat with Salmon, are available now at Petco and PetSmart.

The food is made with chicken bone broth from slow-simmered chicken bones and collagen-rich tissues, according to the company. Blue Buffalo said the naturally occurring collagen from the broth, combined with the food’s protein, helps support mobility and maintain muscle. The grain-free recipes are made without corn, wheat or soy and include the company’s antioxidant-rich LifeSource Bits.

Dry or wet serving format

The food can be served as dry kibble or prepared by adding 1 to 2 tablespoons of water for every half cup of food. According to the company, the water turns the kibble’s coating into a soup-like texture and adds hydration, while the kibble stays crunchy for up to an hour after water is added.

“Cat parents know that what excites their feline companions one day may not excite them the next, which is why a versatile food option can make such a difference,” said Ashley Soukup, business unit director for cat feeding and dog treating at General Mills, Blue Buffalo’s parent company.

“Our patented two-in-one, dry-to-wet format has seen strong results, and with Wilderness Bone Broth Boosted, we’re building on that success by adding nutrition through real chicken bone broth for even more protein and collagen, creating a completely new way for cats to experience the Wilderness brand.”
