Some infected pets may appear healthy but can still transmit the bacteria to humans or other animals. For humans, handling the contaminated product can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramping. In rare cases, it may cause more severe health conditions like arterial infections or arthritis.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to return them to the place of purchase or destroy the food in a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access. Do not sell or donate the recalled products. Do not feed the recalled product to pets or any other animals. Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups, and storage containers.
