The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued an advisory urging pet owners not to feed two specific lots of Darwin's Natural Pet Products BioLogics dog food after agency testing detected both Salmonella and Listeria Monocytogenes contamination.
The FDA discovered the pathogens during follow-up testing on a consumer complaint. One sample of the frozen raw dog food tested positive for Listeria Monocytogenes, while a second sample tested positive for both Salmonella and Listeria Monocytogenes.
The affected products are Darwin's BioLogics All-Natural & Grain-Free Beef Recipe for Dogs, sold online through a subscription service in frozen 2-pound packages. The contaminated lots are lot 11895 (manufactured July 29, 2025) and lot 11826 (manufactured July 7, 2025).
Manufacturer Arrow Reliance, Inc. reportedly sent letters to customers notifying them about the Listeria contamination but did not inform them about the presence of Salmonella in one lot, according to the FDA. The agency recommended Arrow Reliance recall the two affected product lots.
"Although Arrow Reliance may have notified its customers that it is withdrawing the two lots for L. mono, the firm has not yet provided sufficient documentation to the FDA to show that this action has removed affected product from the marketplace and customers' freezers," the FDA stated in its advisory.
The affected products come in 2-pound white and clear plastic packages with "BioLogics All-Natural & Grain-Free" printed in orange lettering. Each package is divided into four separate half-pound units, with lot codes printed on the front lower left corner of the 2-pound package.
