Victor Pet Food has launched Hunter's Instinct, a high-protein cat food line formulated for active and outdoor cats.

The line is built around the needs of cats as obligate carnivores, which require high quantities of meat-based protein to sustain their metabolic needs and activity levels, according to the company.

Hunter's Instinct includes three recipes, each featuring salmon as the first ingredient. All three recipes include animal-sourced protein, prebiotics, postbiotics and omega fatty acids. The recipes are formulated to deliver life-stage-specific benefits as cats age while maintaining consistent taste across the lineup.

The three recipes are:

  • Hunter's Instinct Active Kitten Recipe: Contains 42% protein and includes DHA to support brain and vision development, along with minerals for bone and teeth strength.
  • Hunter's Instinct Active Adult Recipe: Contains 40% protein and is formulated for physical maintenance.
  • Hunter's Instinct Active Adult 7+ Recipe: Contains 40% protein and is formulated to support joint, immune and muscle health in mature cats.

"We developed Hunter's Instinct to solve a gap in what's currently available for active cats," said Brandon McKay, chief executive officer of Mid America Pet Food. "With more than 40% of cats regularly spending time outdoors, these pets view the outdoors as a natural extension of their home. They are climbing, hunting and exploring, yet the market has lacked a dedicated high-protein solution tailored to this active lifestyle. Hunter's Instinct delivers premium, meat-first formulas specifically engineered for the outdoor-loving cat, providing pet parents with exceptional nutritional performance at a tremendous value."
