Chewy, Inc. has relaunched its Chewy Claus campaign, inviting pet owners to submit holiday wish lists on behalf of their furry, feathered and finned companions. For each letter received by December 20, Chewy will donate one pound of food to its nonprofit partners, up to a total of 600,000 pounds. Pet owners can also opt to forgo gifts for their pets in favor of an additional donation to pets in need.
Now in its second year, the Chewy Claus initiative has inspired more than 500,000 pets to “write” letters since its debut in 2022. Among the recurring wishes from pets are toys, treats, and, notably, homes for animals in shelters. To address this, Chewy Claus is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to sponsor free pet adoptions at participating shelters nationwide from Friday, November 29, through Sunday, December 1.
"Chewy Claus is dedicated to spreading joy during the happiest time of the year," said Orlena Yeung, chief brand officer at Chewy. "When we received thousands of letters from pets asking for homes, we knew we had to help. There’s no better way to celebrate the season than by uniting pets with loving families."
Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society, emphasized the importance of the campaign. "Adoption is the most important step everyone can take to save the lives of shelter pets, and free adoption initiatives like this from Chewy Claus make it that much easier for people to consider bringing home a new best friend," Castle said.
