In an event marking World Stray Animal Day on April 4, Brazil-based pet food company PremieRpet projected an image of the Christ the Redeemer statue "embracing" a pet for the first time — a symbolic gesture meant to raise awareness about responsible adoption and the needs of rescued animals.
“At PremieRpet, we believe every dog and cat deserves a loving home and proper care,” said Fernando Maluf, vice president of International Sales. “As a national symbol of compassion, Christ the Redeemer provided the perfect setting to share our message of hope and the life-changing impact of adoption — reflecting our company’s unwavering commitment to animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.”
Alongside the visual campaign, PremieRpet and its brands GoldeN and Natoo donated more than 27 tons of pet food — equivalent to approximately 111,280 meals — through the PremieRpet Institute. The donation went to organizations affiliated with the Sustainable Christ Consortium, which together care for around 600 dogs and cats.
The initiative also includes three adoption events throughout April in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Porto Alegre to help more animals find permanent homes.
