Petfood Industry and the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) are launching Pet Supplements Pro, a newsletter targeting pet food manufacturers, formulators, nutritionists and veterinarians working in the pet supplements and treats sector.
The semi-monthly newsletter will cover regulatory developments, compliance considerations, supplier innovation and market trends in this segment. It is designed for pet supplement professionals: executives and decision-makers, product developers, quality and operations leaders, and marketing professionals.
"Pet Supplements Pro is designed to serve those who are navigating this rapidly growing market segment," said Steve Akins, executive vice president, Global Petfood & Events, WATT Global Media. "Our goal is to give readers the information and industry news they need to support their efforts."
Pet supplements industry keeps moving
NASC President Bill Bookout cited the industry's pace of change as a driving factor behind the launch. "The pet supplements and treats industry has never stood still, and it certainly is not standing still now," he said.
Bookout, who is marking NASC's 25th anniversary this year, pointed to rising expectations across the supply chain. "Over the past two decades, we have seen remarkable growth in how pet owners think about their animals' health," he said. "What was once considered an emerging category has become an essential part of how countless people support their pets' well-being."
NASC has built its approach around co-regulation and continuous improvement, working cooperatively with FDA-CVM, state regulators and associations including AAFCO. Bookout said the newsletter reflects that same commitment to education and transparency. "Clear, accurate information is more important than ever," he said.
Collaboration is key
Pet Supplements Pro is a collaboration between NASC, which brings subject matter leadership, and Petfood Industry, which contributes editorial expertise in the pet food industry.
"We've had a long and collaborative partnership with NASC leadership, and this new product is a direct result of that relationship," Akins said. "It comes at the right time to give those in this space an important new source of industry news and information."
Bookout described the newsletter's purpose as providing not just news but context. "Our goal is not just to report on what is happening, but to provide context and clarity," he said. "Staying current today is not optional as regulatory expectations continue to evolve."
