Natural Hounds, a fresh dog food franchise, has launched a raw food line. Products will be available starting Aug. 1 at Natural Hounds locations and online at NaturalHounds.com.
The raw line is produced in the company's kitchens, batch tested for bacterial contamination and formulated to meet AAFCO standards for complete and balanced nutrition, according to the company. The recipes use the same suppliers as Natural Hounds' cooked meals.
With the addition of raw food, Natural Hounds franchisees now offer six product lines: fresh cooked meals, raw food, treats and supplements, memberships, local delivery and sample packs.
The raw products are packaged in resealable 1- and 2-pound containers rather than the tube-style packaging commonly used for raw pet food, the company said. Natural Hounds said the raw line is priced the same as its cooked meals and described the cost as below competitors' raw products on a per-30-pound basis.
To promote the launch, Natural Hounds is offering free sample packs, price matching for customers with bulk pricing from another raw food company and 50% off a customer's first box.
"Our customers have been asking us for raw pet food for years, and we're the rare company that can actually deliver it the right way — same trusted ingredients, same suppliers, made fresh in the same open kitchen we run every day," said Conor Wooley, co-founder of Natural Hounds. "There's a massive gap in this market, and we're built to own it. This is us setting the standard for what locally made, certified raw should be."
