Canidae has launched Canidae Heartland, a new line of dog food recipes made with regeneratively farmed ingredients.
Through a new partnership with the American Red Cross, Canidae will donate 1% of every retail purchase of Heartland to support the organization's disaster relief efforts.
"At a time when so much can feel divided, organizations like the American Red Cross remind us about the importance of coming together and supporting our neighbors when it matters most," said Greg Shearson, CEO of Ethos Pet Brands. "We've always believed that doing the right thing shouldn't stop with the food we put in a pet's bowl, and with the launch of Canidae Heartland, we are nourishing dogs with quality, farm-raised nutrition while giving pet parents an opportunity to make a positive impact beyond their homes."
The Red Cross supplies about 40% of the nation's blood and helps more than 28,000 people across the country every day through disaster relief, military family support and lifesaving training, according to the release.
"The Red Cross provides help and hope to people facing emergencies of all types across the country," said Chad Priest, division vice president for the American Red Cross. "We are grateful for partners like Canidae that support the Red Cross mission to help ensure families — including their pets — receive vital comfort and care when it's needed most."
Canidae sources regeneratively farmed oatmeal, pearled barley and whole grain sorghum for the Heartland recipes, which are manufactured at the company's facility in Brownwood. The line includes four recipes featuring chicken, salmon or lamb as the first ingredient and kibble coated with live probiotics to support digestive health. The recipes are formulated without corn, wheat, soy, or artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
Canidae Heartland is available in select Walmart locations nationwide and on Walmart.com starting this month.
Canidae, founded in 1996, is part of the Ethos Pet Brands portfolio, which also includes the Natural Balance brand.
