Nestlé Purina Petcare Europe is relaunching and expanding its Gourmet Perle range to meet rising demand for premium wet cat food, described as a key growth platform for Nestlé in the pet food category.

Premium wet cat food is among the fastest-growing categories globally, with roughly 6% value growth, noted the company. With an estimated 108 million pet cats across Europe, the category continues to offer significant growth opportunities, particularly in wet food formats that appeal to cats with preferences for variety and refined textures.

The relaunched Gourmet Perle range is now available in stores across nearly 30 European markets, including France, Italy, Germany and the UK. The line features updated packaging designed to improve shelf visibility and help consumers navigate the range.

As part of the relaunch, Purina is introducing Gourmet Perle Ocean Flakes, a new fish-forward variety featuring a flaked texture. Selected recipes, including Ocean Flakes, are made with fish from MSC-certified fisheries.

The relaunch is supported by a new "Shine Like a Pearl" marketing campaign.

"With Gourmet Perle, we've always focused on the details that matter — from carefully prepared recipes to textures cats love," said Elisa Riboldi, chief marketing officer at Purina Europe. "This relaunch, brought to life through our 'Shine Like a Pearl' campaign, builds on that heritage — combining quality ingredients, daily craftsmanship and innovations like Ocean Flakes to create a more refined mealtime experience.

"At the same time, we know owners want greater transparency about where ingredients come from," she continued. "By introducing recipes made with fish from MSC-certified fisheries, we're helping make responsible sourcing easier to recognize as part of everyday feeding."
